St. Benedict & San Damiano
The Saint Benedict Medal is a Christian sacramental medal which contains symbols and text related to the life of Saint Benedict of Nursia. The medal is used by Roman Catholics, as well as Anglicans, Lutherans, Methodists and the Western Orthodox, in the Benedictine Christian tradition. It is one of the oldest and most honored medals due to the belief in its power against evil, making it widely known as the "devil-chasing medal".
The San Damiano icon cross was painted to teach the meaning of Christ's saving death and Resurrection. This icon, like all others, is a "window to heaven" which helps us encounter God, who loves us unconditionally and who calls each of us to build up His Body on earth.
