The Homeless Jesus statue at Saint Alban's Church in North Carolina captured our attention. The implications of the statue - that in fact, Jesus was homeless - is galvanizing communities all over the country. We're thinking of our homeless brethren in a way we maybe didn't before. "Have I done enough?" "What would Jesus do?" This renewed dialogue is what the sculptor, inspired by Matthew 25:40, had in mind.
Our figurine by acclaimed artist Michael Adams, titled "No Place to Rest," evokes an emotional response in the viewer, bringing to the forefront thoughts about social justice and servanthood, and about each person's covenant with the Creator to do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with our God. The piece is a reminder that Jesus, homeless himself, cared for every living creature regardless of their circumstances, and He asks us to do the same.
